It was great to hear from Jack and Sally Carter, who were in Hanover recently for dinner at D'Artagan's, which many regard as the finest restaurant in the Upper Valley. Nick and Ellen Vorys and Bob and Jackie Hooper will be staying with the Carters at Eastman for the Harvard football game.

Bob and Pat Levinson report from New York City that they went to China via India and Nepal, at the same time as President Reagan's visit, to open an American painting show to "signify resumption of cultural relations between China and the USA." They were guests of both governments, due to Bob's position as chairman of the Brooklyn Museum. Secretary of State Schultz opened the show, and Bob reports that they were "very impressed" with the work of our ambassador and the embassy staff, all of whom spoke in Chinese.

Eugene Bronstein has just started his tenth year at Boston College, his second career. He says that "he hardly remembers the retail trade any longer" and his years with Federated Department Stores. They have just sold their home in Newtonville, Mass., and have become cliff dwellers in Brookline.

It was good news to hear from Mrs.Leroy (Do) Jerman-Menconi of Solana Beach, Calif., who would like friends to know that she was recently married in California to Harry Menconi of San Diego, who promises to love, honor," and be an enthusiastic Dartmouth supporter! In January, they had an evening with Sam and Mary Jane Nobles, friends that they had not seen since Wigwam days. Last April, they toured Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and the Skidmore campus. Do says their next trip east will provide Harry with a proper Dartmouth orientation.

We appreciate word from Saul Nirenberg about the death of Oliver Cunningham Nelson had received a law degree from the University of Detroit following graduation from Dartmouth and practiced with the firm of Nelson, Gracey, Turner, and Turner in Detroit. He had been a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and was a letter winner in both football and lacrosse.
