Recently the John W. McCormick Institute of Public Affairs sent me a copy of the New England Journal of Public Policy, which featured an article entitled "Searching for a U-Mass President" by Professor Richard Hogarty. Dick is a professor of political science at the U. Mass College of Public and Community Service in Boston, and he served as the Boston campus faculty representative to the U-Mass board of trustees from 1988 to 1990. The article reviews five presidential searches that took place since 1970 at U. Mass and provides the historical details of each search and insight into the application of lessons from the past to future searches. The article is an excellent read, particularly for someone not familiar with the workings of a public institution. I'd like to see a sequel for Dartmouth. How about it, Dick?

I have received a note and copy of the family Christmas letter from Ken Lundstrom. Ken and Kathy relocated to North Carolina last year and have recently moved into a newly built home in a low-maintenance, clusterlike development in Durham where, according to Ken, they have probably lowered the average age! Their youngest son, Jeffrey, graduated from high school last June, where he had an outstanding lacrosse season. Jeff was named MVP of his school and the state of Tennessee, and a high school Ail-American. He was the high scorer in the North-South All-Star game in June. Jeff has matriculated at Bucknell and expects to resume lacrosse in the spring. Ken keeps in touch with Tom McGreevey by phone and encourages any classmates visiting the area to get in touch.

Ralph Sautter passed along a brief note from Peter Robinson, who says Paris and Europe are still great after 25 years there. His "little" daughter, Melanie, who is six feet tall, is in her last year of high school and thinking of staying on in Europe. His older daughter is at Brown and loves it.

A number of Green reply cards have come to me via John Dinan. Bill Kehoe has made a big professional change by moving to the Boston Law firm of Hutchins and Wheeler, where he is a partner in the trust and estates department and continues his practice involving wills and trusts, estate administration, and probate litigation. Bill's daughter Katy '93 loves being at Dartmouth.

From Traverse City, Mich., Bruce Justice announced that he became a grandfather to Jacob William, son of Chris '81, last September. He expects that with the reduction in government contracting he will get a change of professional venue in 1992. Bruce says Traverse City is a great place to live, but not so good for making a living.
