Remember "College Bowl"? The TV show that was sort of a fifties' version of Trivial Pursuit? Dartmouth, which had an undefeated championship College Bowl team in 1960-61, is back in the limelight, as is the College Bowl itself. Resurrected in a slightly different format several years ago, College Bowl now runs with local and regional playoffs, the winners of which participate in televised national semi-finals and finals.
Dartmouth's reentry into the competition is even more recent. For the first time this year the College fielded a team, organized by freshman Jayne Meeks, who had participated in similar activities in high school. And not only did the fledgling Dartmouth team come out as runner-up in the regional competition against an extremely experienced UCONN squad, but the Green group was invited to compete in the national tournament at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.
Stay tuned for the final results.
