As I'm writing this in July, it is 100 degrees outside, the humidity is 86 percent. Lady Liberty was lit by President Reagan three days ago in New York Harbor. Assuming these things are true (they are), I assume that when you read this you will be "decking the halls with boughs of holly." I wouldn't have thought it was possible, but there was a smaller time lag when Professor Foley corrected our "Cowboys and Indians" exams than there is in this business.

Steve Warhover has been named president of Gorton's, a division of General Foods, Inc. Gorton's is in Gloucester and is a fishy business. The press release gives credit to Dartmouth and to Tuck School, but I suspect eating at Thayer had a lot to do with Steve's wanting to improve the world of frozen fish entrees!

I got an informative note from Ab Oakes. You may recall Ab coached freshman teams in soccer, hockey, and lacrosse while we were in Hanover. In 1963-64 Ab coached varsity hockey while Eddy Jeremiah was coaching the Olympic Team. The 1963-64 hockey team won the Ivy League. Ab always felt that that was one of his fondest memories. Giving AlbieMcDonald and A 1 Anderson their start in freshmen lacrosse was one of the things he would just as soon forget! Anyway, Ab inquired about Bill Jevne. (What is it about Jevne? We all tried to avoid him when we were going to Dartmouth. Now everybody is trying to find him!) Ab runs the Sessions Casket Company in New Haven. In December he had three-fourths of his tongue and palate removed and rebuilt to remove a malignant tumor at the base of his tongue. The nine-hour operation was followed by seven weeks of radiation. Ab now works full-time. Any trouble swallowing is averted by "Cyndy using the blender." Ab Jr. just had his fifth reunion at Dartmouth and teaches and coaches at Tabor Academy. Number two son works in Spokane as a systems engineer. Number three is nearer to home and is involved in pool maintenance in the New Haven area. "Cyndy sold her gift business as soon as the kids were all out of schooling. She now enjoys golf and volunteer work." I know Ab was not trying to drum up casket business by using our column (people are dying to get caskets), and I know some of you will recall his having touched your lives. He's at 35 Julian Drive, Hamden, CT 06518.

It is hard to represent all factions of a very diverse class. I've tried to do the necessary research to report on some classmates we all know. It is a stellar group. A recent wedding saw HolzerTheiztite and Teresa Crowd tie the knot. Teresa was Skids '68. Willie Malester and Hunter Down swerved (sic) as ushers at this skitoosh affair in Skaneateles. BobFerapples and Wendy Graberboughtom were married, both for the second time, in Camel Gas, Tex. A festive Dartmouth contingent was headed up by Rip Wonoff and C. Howie Lykzit.

As I said, it's 100 degrees. Have a Merry!
