Kappa Sigma Gamma fraternity is now called Chi Gamma Epsilon. The local house was sued by Kappa Sigma, a national organization, for trademark infringement. The house was ordered by the New Hampshire district court to change its name. The fraternity dropped out of the Kappa Sigma organization in 1982 and added the. Gamma to its name, believing that was enough to disconnect the group from the national organization. But Chi Gamma Epsilon's legal battles are not over yet. Both Kappa Sigma and Chi Gamma Epsilon claim ownership of the house. A court case is pending.

Meanwhile, Phi Sigma Chi has published an ad in The Dartmouth asking that the public no longer call it a fraternity. The coed house now designates itself a "panarchy," which means "an all inclusive realm or domain."

Baker baking Baker: Christopher Leselle, Hanover Inn Pastry Chef, adds finishing touches to a scale model of Baker Library made entirely of sugar and chocolate. Leselle based the model on the original construction blueprints of the Library.
