In spite of record heat in New England, Wad Woods, Portsmouth, N.H., played in five tennis doubles tournaments, and he and his partner again won the New England title in the 80-85 age bracket.
For three years Charlie and Helen Clare Macdonald, Rockport, Mass., have traveled to see plays at the Shaw Festival, Niagara Falls, and Festival Theatre, Stratford, Ontario. Excellent casts and performances have been most rewarding.
A bequest of $2,500 is forthcoming to Dartmouth to be credited to 1926 from the estate of Ruth Millard Sumner who died last September. Ruth was the wife for 33 years of Stephen H. Millard, who died in 1962. She joined with 25 other 1926 widows who were recruited in 1968 by Walter Rankin and Barbara Hayward, widow of Sid Hayward, to enlist other class widows to make memorial gifts through the Alumni Fund a program that has grown significantly up to the present.
Allen V. Collins '53, West Hartford, Conn., who will head up the Dartmouth Alumni Fund in 1989, is son of our CharlieCollins, who died in 1987. We welcome news about children and grandchildren who have become Dartmouth men and women and are serving the college.
Marj Hopkins, Carl Schipper and sister Ann, Don and Lou Norstrand were among the 20 Dartmouth men, wives, and widows at the North Hill Fourth Annual Dartmouth Convocation, October 7, at the Needham, Mass., lifetime retirement community. Dick and Ruth Nichols were away vacationing in Sharon, N.H. Trustee Bob Danziger '56 and his wife Sara were guests, and Bob spoke about Dartmouth affairs after the reception and dinner.
Bob May's "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" as usual rides again during the Christmas season, and sends his greetings to all his class and college mates.
