Dr. Nick Vincent and Alice found the spirit of 500 alumni at the Davidson game was heartwarming. A '29 table at dinner included the John Moxons, Roll Readings, Carter Stricklands, and Bill Andres's son Bill. Nick suggests someone prepare a list of those planning to attend as they do at medical conventions.
He reports all four classmates seem to be doing well. He praised President Freedman's speaking ability and feels he recognizes the loyalty and spirit of Dartmouth students and alumni, but that he glossed over some serious questions. He also praised Coach Teevens and the team's attitude.
Phil Fitzpatrick sent a clipping on the death of Dr. Tom Cummins, Paul Kelsey's son Bill sent one on Paul, and JohnQuebman called to say Larry Hale died after a long illness. John and I attended his service, which filled a large church in Falmouth. Al and Luly Finlay were there as members of the family.
It sure helps to get these reports, however sad.
News from the many '29ers in Hanover's Kaffee Klatsch is encouraging. Our on-the-spot group is unanimous in its belief in the continuing soundness of the modern Dartmouth and in its confidence in President Freedman.
They're also unanimous in dismay at the disloyal and destructive tactics of some dissident groups. Their good news is that we're justified in treasuring the joy of our Dartmouth connection.
True loyalty and love need not be blind But helping, lifting, and forever kind.
