The October mini-reunion was a great success. Without really knowing the relative numbers of participants over the years, we'll bet that this one was one of the best. If your secretary's figures are remotely correct, we had 47 classmates on hand with about the same number of wives and guests.

That filled up the Dartmouth Outing Club Friday night for BYO cocktails and an excellent dinner. The group also looked impressive at pregame preprandials in Leverone Field House and again Saturday evening at the Norwich Inn. Some of us were "locals," many understandably came from the northeast, but Dick Higgins came from Chicago, Bill Lain from Galveston, Tex., Frank White from Atlanta, Ga., to leaven the crowd.

Chuck and Joni Drennan missed the reunion but joined us at the game (Yale) and reported that they now lived in Brattleboro, having retired from a life with UniRoyal and a latest residence in Bloomfield Hills. Their three kids are in the northeast, and they love New England, winter and all.

Alan Bede also missed the reunion but made the game. Alan lives in New Canaan, Conn., and consults for a leading Japanese broker—Kokusai Securities. He got his expertise in 25 years of investment banking, the last 13 of which were with Nomura Securities. In 1983 Alan married a second time "to a class of '30 daughter."

Proc Page, a longtime Burlington, Vt., newspaper tycoon and Dartmouth football aficionado, stated unequivocally that retirement and golf go beautifully hand in hand.

The executive committee met with president Rugen in the chair and heard that the class was solvent from treasurer Caproni, that the 45th Reunion was coming along strong from Bob Encherman, and that the class of '42 ranks fourth among classes of 1937-47 with 17 trusts totalling $954,006. This from Bequests & Trusts chairman GuySwenson. Alumni Fund head agent CharlieWeinberg commented that this performance is a lot better than the class does in the Alumni Fund competition where we are ninth out of nine, 1938-46.

The executive committee appointed a nominating committee (Kirk, Burns, Kreter) who plead "we need suggestions for the following elective offices to serve the class from reunion 1988 to reunion 1992: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and Alumni Council representative. Send names asap or immediate, whichever is sooner, to Bob Kirk, Box 227, Etna, NH 03750."
