Once again I have successfully stiffed Ken McKenna and Jeff Sassorossi for lunch. This time, however, I went to great lengths and actually flew to California to avoid the rendezvous. I don't know how many of you remember these two characters, but even I have to admit that lunch in New York with these two folks beats a trip to Los Angeles.

Dan Nelson, who recently was employed as a teacher at my old prep school, writes that he and his wife, Debbie, returned to Hanover this past summer after quite an absence. He and Debbie will make up for lost time. Dan is now assistant dean of the College and Debbie is working in admissions. Between the Sassorossis and the Nelsons, I would say that 1975 is well represented in Hanover. There are also two little Nelsons; Jack (three and a half) and Alice (four months).

Moving still farther north, if that is possible: John Britton writes that he will be a staff anesthesiologist at Maine Medical Center until July 1988. John, buddy, bad planning; you should have ended that tour in November 1987 and then headed for Miami Medical Center. However, he at least had the good fortune of landing a position in Washington, D.C., in a fellowship in pediatric critical care and anesthesiology.

As we all approach the age of reflection (30, 35, or 40—depending on your level of security), a note arrived from Doug Peterson that reminded me of a very appealing life. Doug has been with the U.S. ski team for 14 years. He is currently the program director and head coach for the Nordic combined team.

These athletes combine ski jumping with cross-country skiing. Doug will, of course, be at the Winter Olympics in Calgary in late February, and hopes that anyone from the Green who is there will stop by and scream loudly for our team. Our top athlete was apparently second in the World Championships.

Finally, another note from the Northlands; February always seems to turn up the hardiest souls. Steve Johnson, who resides in Duluth, was recently visited by his sophomore-year roommate, Ulf Olsson '76. Ulf is now chief system architect of ship systems for Philips in Jarfalla, Sweden. The last time the two saw each other was in 1974.

That's all, folks.
