In the National Intercollegiate Squash Racquets Championships at Harvard, two members of the Dartmouth team did very well. Captain Steve Foster, indeed, did what no other Dartmouth operative has ever done before, namely, reach the semifinals in this meet. He succumbed to Ufford of Harvard (who eventually won the title) by the score of 15-8, 15-7, and 15-12, and thus gave a good indication that the Green is a power to be reckoned with in this sport. The other Dartmouth performer to do well was Bud Addis, who went through the third round and was put out by the same Mr. Ufford, by an even closer margin than the latter eliminated Steve Foster. The score in the Addis-Ufford match was 18-14, 18-14. and 15-12. This record in the Intercollegiates was highly gratifying to Coach Red Hoehn and the rest of the Dartmouth team.

A DISASTROUS SETBACK TO THE DARTMOUTH CREW occurred in mid-March when the Rowing Club's boathouse on the Connecticut River collapsed under the weight of the unusually heavy snowfall, destroying five 8-man shells and most of the oars for a total damage of $10,000. Above, Jim Toffey (left), varsity crew captain, and John Unkles, club president, are shown with other crew members digging in the wreckage. The club plans to rebuild the boathouse and to carry on with the spring schedule as best it can. An old shell has already been made available by Harvard. Ironically, it was the collapse of the boathouse roof in 1877 that killed crew at Dartmouth for the next 60 years.
