The winners

A campus poll following the Republican debate at Dartmouth revealed that Senator Robert Dole and former Governor Pierre du Pont gained student support while Vice President George Bush fell slightly in the standings. Dole garnered enough support from undecided students to pass Bush as the front runner.

Before the debate, 24.9 percent of the students favored Bush, 18.5 percent Dole. After the debate, only 24.7 percent favored Bush while 27.3 percent favored Dole. Du Pont remained in third place with 15.9 percent.
