When cyclist Chris Bailey '89 was racing this summer for the United States national team, he had another goal in mind making the United States Olympic team. Bailey is one of the nation's emerging cyclists; he is ranked fourteenth and is the top rider under the age of 20.

Whether or not Bailey makes the team depends on how he performs at the Olympic trials to be held later this month in Spokane, Washington. Not going to Seoul won't mean the end of Bailey's cycling career; indeed, just the opposite is true. He says if he does not make the 1988 Olympic team, he will turn professional that much sooner.

Road Warrior: If Chris Bailey '89 makes the Olympic team, he will the first Dartmouthcyclist to compete at the Games.
