As spring turned into summer in late May, more than a hundred of the 1,400 members of the Black Alumni of Dartmouth Association gathered in Hanover for the group's ninth biennial conference three days of workshops, panels, speeches, and social events. Presentations focused on Dartmouth issues as well as on wider subjects such as career guidance. Among the speakers and panelists were President Freedman, Dean Dwight Lahr, B.A.D.A. president Gary Love '76, Judge Fritz Alexander '47, former Trustee R. Harcourt Dodds '58, and Reggie Williams '76. The latter two each received the Edward Mitchell 1828 Award in recognition of their outstanding service.
