Mode of exit: Thrown out after using a cannon to blow down a wall in Dartmouth Hall

Career: Artillery officer

Notable achievement: Went to war against the Seminoles

The younger brother of future U.S. President Franklin Pierce, Benjamin explained that he blew down the wall in order to ease traffic flow between classrooms. He ended up training with his father's militia and obtained a first lieutenant's commission in time to fight in the War of 1812. Pierce later distinguished himself in the Indian Wars in 1835.
