Picture this: Heather McCutchen '87 is the playwright-in-residence at New York City's Home for Contemporary Theater and Art, but she really resides in Norwich, Vermont, where she happens to be the advertising representative for this very magazine. Modern communications technology allows her to live a glamorous double life.

Though Heather has plenty of background for her work she received her master's in fine arts from the Playwrights Workshop at the University of lowa last spring, and currently teaches a play writing course at Lebanon College she was a religion major at Dartmouth. Nevertheless, she managed to work a little theater into almost every aspect of her Dartmouth career. For a biology projecther senior year she had an interpretive dan-cer perform beside her while she did a reading on creation myths. 'We accidentally sprayed peat moss on the professor and his wife," she reveals. "It was a prop."
Heather is currently working on a sequel to her play Alabama Rain and making the occasional commute to New York to ready A Walk on LakeErie for production.
