Football 5-5 overall, 4-3 Ivy. The Big Green closed the '89 season by winning four in a row. That rally included a 24-0 trouncing of Penn and gave senior David Clark '90 the opportunity to set new Dartmouth records for single-season rushing attempts and yards gained with 219 carries and 1,063 yards. Clark ended his College career as Dartmouth's rushing leader with 1,812 yards.
Men's Cross Country 7-0 overall, 2-0 Ivy. The harriers placed second in the IC4A Championships and ninth in the NCAA Championships.
Women's Cross Country 4-0 overall, 1-0 Ivy. The team placed fifth at the ECAC Championships and 18th in the NCAA Championships.
Men's Basketball 3-4 overall, 0-0 Ivy. Junior Brendan O'Sullivan's two free throws with six seconds to play in double overtime gave the Big Green a dramatic 79-77 win at New Hampshire. Walter Palmer '90 scored a career-high 31 points and pulled down nine rebounds. In Orono, Maine, Palmer helped Dartmouth win the Lobster Shootout with 17 points in Dartmouth's 77-71 win against Maine in the opener and 19 points and nine rebounds in its 64-51 victory against Texas A&M. He was named the tournament's most valuable player. Dartmouth dropped its next three road games against Arizona State, University of Detroit, and Maine.
Women's Basketball 6-2 overall, 0-0 Ivy. Dartmouth extended its home-court winning streak to 12 with wins over Morgan State and Campbell University in the Dartmouth Invitational. Sophia Neely '90, who scored 11 points against Morgan and 18 points against Campbell, earned tournament MVP honors. She is the sixth player in Dartmouth women's basketball history to score 1,000 points. At Wisconsin, the Big Green knocked off the Big Ten power, 90-77. Seniors Neely (21 points) and Patty Webb (20 points) paced Dartmouth.
Men's Hockey 2-6-2 overall, 2-6-2 ECAC. The Big Green has had a pair of long layoffs—13 days for exams and 14 days when Dartmouth withdrew from a tournament in Alaska after a volcanic eruption disrupted air travel. The team lost to New Hampshire and Vermont in the New Hampshire Holiday Tournament.
Women's Hockey 2-4-1 overall, 0-0 Ivy. The Big Green fell to two of the top teams in the nation when it dropped a 2-0 contest at New Hampshire and an 8-3 game against Providence. Against New Hampshire, Kelley Coyne '90 set a school record by turning away 56 shots on goal for Dartmouth.
Men's Swimming 3-0 overall, 2-0 EISL. The team is undefeated, having scored wins against Navy, Brown, and New Hampshire.
Women's Swimming 1-2 overall, 0-1 EISL. The team defeated New Hampshire and fell to Boston College and Brown.
