JAMES B. REYNOLDS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FOREIGN STUDY
Seven or eight scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding Dartmouth graduates for study in any field in any foreign country, normally in affiliation with a formal educational institution and in any case in conformity with a definite program of study approved by the Committee on Graduate Fellowships. Applications for countries other than England are especially invited. Grants will not be made for post-doc-toral study. The awards are for one year only for the sum of $2500. Adjustments in the stipend may be made in special cases to compensate for higher than normal tuition charges at certain foreign institutions or for extraordinarily high travel expenses to countries more distant from the United States than Western Europe. DARTMOUTH GENERAL FELLOWSHIPSAND LOANS FROM THE WILLIAMHILL MEMORAL LOAN FUND
Both fellowships and loans may be used for graduate study either in the United States or abroad. They are awarded on the basis of finanical need, academic merit and a sound program of graduate study. Fellowships may not exceed $1500; loans may not exceed $200. A loan is often granted to supplement a fellowship. Applications aredue by February 13, 1970.
During the current academic year four alumni will study on Reynolds Scholarships: one at the University of Keele, England; one at the University of Durham, England; one at the University of Paris; one in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Six alumni will study on Dartmouth General Fellowships: two at Cambridge University, England; one at the Institute of Social Research of the University of Zambia; the other three at the University of Chicago, the University of California at Berkeley, and at New York University respectively.
