Spending last summer riding across the U.S. of A. on the "biggest, blackest, meanest Harley Davidson" he could find, Nate Emerson wrote from Beijing that he'd clocked about 10,000 miles on every type of secondary road, including North Dakotan cattle paths (a wrong turn). Ridding himself of his Harley, Nate then flew to Beijing, where he has a position at Beijing Normal University as an English teacher (currendy working with 40- to 60-year-olds). He'll be there 'til the summer, and since all his trekking has made Nate difficult to locate, he's asked me to provide the class with his address, which is as follows: Foreign Teachers Dormitory Rm. 3212, Beijing Normal University, Beijing 100875, People's Republic of China.
Phil Privitera wrote to say that he transferred out of Columbia's School of International Affairs into a master's program at Dartmouth. The subject of his thesis is "The Constitutionality and Effectiveness of Capital Punishment in the United States." He expects to complete the degree sometime this year and then attend law school in the fall.
From Jane Williams came a postcard entitled "You Are What You Eat," a wonderful picture of a human skeleton in the Museum of Science and Industry, located in Chicago, III. Jane transferred from med school in Chicago to Albany Medical College, since she missed being out east so much. She enjoys being in a place "where the land isn't flat." (Several '90s have complained to me about that aspect of Chicago and I, as your class secretary, have contacted the Chicago City Planners' office in an effort to resolve that problem.) Anyway, Jane wanted to report that she, Anthony Vale,Bob Galindo Brian Mittman , Todd Eagle, Paul Freedman '89, and Puneet Sagar '91 took a ride out to Long Island to play Paintball Capture the Flag. Jane said the whole experience taught her a lot about "where men get their fascination for war." In other words, men get their fascination for war from Long Island, right? Just some food for thought.
Jane's old classmates at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, David Engler and Jo Ann Lee, are indeed in their second year of med school in that flat city. Dave asks whether anyone "really understands statistics." I don't understand statistics enough to be in a position to determine whether anyone really understands that subject, Dave. Dave has received letters from Kenny May, who is currently teaching in Japan, as are Kathy DeWeese and Jill Waller. Jill is planning to study Japanese art.

Please note that I have moved to the other side of the Hudson River and will now be receiving my mail at the address below. That's just a friendly little hint that you should write me a letter sometime soon to avoid being lost amongst the hoardes of humanity. Please do not send cash.
