peie napolitano, director of the Dartmouth Dining Services, winced when we told him that Bon Appetit's editors had, well, not exactly raved about Thayer's food. "Of course they didn't like it," he said. "Try flash freezing a meal from some exclusive L.A. restaurant, thawing it out at Dartmouth, and making our students eat it. They'd hate it," says Mr. Napolitano. He adds that Dartmouth is consistently given good reviews by students who eat a lot of meals on other campuses. "You tell those Bon Appetit people they can come here any time and eat my food. I'll go plate to plate against them or anybody in our business any time!"—Ed.
Try the unfrozen food, says Pete.
