Graduate Student, Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University
HERE IS A SAMPLE OF WHAT WHEELAN HAS done since matriculating at Dartmouth: circumnavigated the globe (while sending dispatches to the local Valley News), established a profitable mutual fund, worked with Kuwait's leading daily paper, served as sole speech writer for Maine Governor Jock McKernan '72, and written for numerous publications. (You may remember his profile of Paul Tsongas '62 in this magazine's October '91 issue). While at Princeton he is working part-time with former Yale President Benno Schmidt at the Edison Project, Chris Whittle's highly publicized effort to develop a system of high-tech, affordable private schools. When he gets his Ph.D. in a few years, don't expect Wheelan to spend too much time in classrooms; his street savvy and superb writing skills will make him equally popular in politics, publishing, and business.
Wheelan'scareer won'tsit still.
