Research Professor of Engineering, Dartmouth College

One of the early developers of porous coatings for prosthestic hip and knee joints, Collier holds three patents and has seen his creations implanted into 100,000 patients. His hip joint, which uses the new coating technology, "is considered the best design on the market," according to the Thayer School. (Not surprisingly, his undergraduate course on inventing is extremely popular.) His work has not gone unnoticed by colleagues on the medical side: Collier is one of a small number of non- M.D.'s who have been elected members of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Hip Society.

Collier is intojoint ventures.
