Painter
This young Cochiti Pueblo painter is already becoming a force in the contemporary Southwestern art market. Last fall he had a one-man show at the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he picked up a prominent gallery as representative. Last year he took two top prizes at the Santa Fe Indian Art Market. He has been featured in the local press and in USA Today. Romero is currently studying for a master's degree in fine arts at the University of New Mexico. "I want to teach political vocabulary, artistic technique, and method...to teach Native American students to express their artistic voice," he says.
