THE NEW YORK Times calls this Dartmouth All-American the next leading distance runner in the United States. Kempainen, who finished third in the Olympic Trials last April, went on to a respectable 17th-place finish in Barcelona. A medical student at the University of Minnesota, he is continuing to compete in amateur meets around the country.
