As you recall, to honor the late Art Leonard, the class gave each incoming '97 a copy of The DartmouthStory by Bob Graham '4O to provide them with a history of the College and the campus. In January The Dartmouth ran an article on the Orozco frescoes, similarly to give current students some background on the masterpiece which, 61 years ago, we who studied in Baker's Reserve Room actually watched being created. (Remember the rumor that Al Baldwin had posed for one of the Mexican warriors?) But we were not aware then how politically controversial some alumni considered the panels. Graham's book tells that when John Dickey took over from Ernest Martin Hopkins and asked for some advice, Prexy said, "Stay away from murals!"

Among my Christmas greetings from many distant places, I heard from Rena Moore, now in Oakland, Calif. Their health problems then under control, Ralph and Jackie Barbbee spent the holidays in St. Louis with their three sons and their families. Most unfortunately, though, just before this was printed Ralph died from a heart problem he had lived with for a long time. Stan Silverman was in Chicago to help Budd Schulberg '36 with his production of On the Waterfront there next stop, Broadway. The Bob Engelmans sent a wonderful picture of their family, all in Florida to celebrate Mary's 80th birthday. Once again a loud hurrah for the classmate whose handling of 1934's Alumni Fund drive deserves a salute from us all.

Many of you get an extra spark from watching your grandchildren's activities. For instance, Stan Neill's grandson is a track star at Denison, and Stan's granddaughter is captain of soccer in high school.

Others shift to different climates with the change of season, but Randy Klinefelter stays right at home, where he does a bundle of insurance and environmental business.

Bill Judd reports that 51 of us now have life-income plans through the College. Those will eventually become substantial gifts to our Alma Mater, as well as provide income for us while we are still around.

Enjoy a pleasant spring the 65 th since we arrived in Hanover.
