Class Officers Weekend is a lively time in Hanovera chance to see how other secretaries do it, a chance to sit class-by-class in the gymnasium listening to class awards and individual rewards, and, most important, a chance to see and talk to and write about lots of classmates.
The long weekend culminated with dinner on the porch at The Dowds Country Inn in Lyme, with diners split up can't-sit-with-spouse fashion. Frank and Drewry Logan were there, back from a long-term rental in London. So were Jim and Nancy Churchill,Charlie and Alison Curtis, John andKatharine McCrillis (from far-off Newport, N.H.), Jay and Edythe Anderson, Bill andJudy Breed, Lou and Ann Zehner, Johnand Janet Lloyd, Linda and HenryWilliams, Dick and Caroline McDonough,Angus and Liz Russell, Bill and MaggieMontgomery, Gail Sanderson, Rea Kinne, and Gene and Judy Cesari. Gene claims he has really retired this time. The class executive committee will be making project recommendations to the class through Bill Montgomery's Crier. Good stuff.
The 1965 class secretary saw our retirement series and mentioned a series on '65 at 52.
People who retire don't buy ties, so it was hardly necessary to ask Harry Wachen about retirement when he was spotted at the tie counter at Paul Stuart's in downtown Manhattan. Wife Elizabeth was parked at the curb in the family chariot (green, of course), poised for a quick getaway. They belong to the Hundred-Percent Club for Dartmouth progeny, two for two. David '87 is now an attorney, and Mark '89 is with Sony in Great Neck. A practice in pediatrics and ob-gyn is Harry's daily passion. Golf, which he has been at since Hanover days, is right up there. He is an attending physician at Long Island Jewish Hospital. Retire? "Never."
The heaviest concentration of '52s in a single neighborhood is found at Harbour Ridge, Palm City, Fla.: Jim Toffey Marty Yarvis Roy Abbott, Jack Boyle, Bob Brace, and Bill Montgomery.
