For the first time, Goldwater Scholarships of $7,000 a year until graduation have been awarded to two Dartmouth undergraduates. The prizes, established by Congress, go to top math and science students nationally. The Dartmouth recipients are David Hemmer '96 and Cailin Nelson '97, two of the 285 winners out of 1,300 applicants.
