During the morning of the Princeton game, I met a Dartmouth '99, Eric Spletizer, who attended John Jay High School in nearby Katonah, N.Y. He noticed my 50th Reunion 1934 cap and said, "I would like to thank you and your classmates for the cassette of Dartmouth music you gave us, and which I listen to often."I asked him if he had received any gifts from other classes, and the answer was "No."Just another example of the leadership of "The Good Class."
Katie and Brice Banks send greetings from California, still have fond memories of our 60th, and look forward to the 65th. During a "Happy New Year" conversation with Hank Werner, he mentioned the Green Bay Packers' victory over the 49ers. Reminded him of the Packers of old, Bart Starr the quarterback, Curly Lambeau the coach, and our own late classmate JohnTorinus the team's secretary-treasurer. Who said "old timers" don't have good memories? Hank and Liz are leaving for Palm Beach around mid-January and he will try to get together a Gold Coast '34 mini-reunion.
Here it is early January and "little ole" New York and suburbs are having their seventh snowfall of the season 24 inches, making the total so far 56 inches. We mention this because Jean and Len Harrison tell us that Hanover is like a Christmas card, with 16 to 18 inches of snow and sixinch icicles at Kendal. (They probably have beaten New York's total by now.)
We were sorry to learn, through StanSmoyer, that Dick Barrett's wife, Kay, passed away recently, and Karl Weber has advised us of the death of Dr. Ed Bishop. Our sincerest sympathies to both families.
