APRIL 1996 Pete Kelsey,

The Blizzard of '96 is now history. While it broke up the routines of many of us in the Northeast, it did provide me with an opportunity to catch up with HarryDodds. Seems both of us ride the MetroNorth commuter railroad. Thanks to the blizzard, Metro-North had a haphazard schedule for the week after the storm. One never knew when a train was going to depart and the few trains that did run stopped at every station. A normal hour-long commute became a three-hour adventure. Thanks to this crazy schedule Harry and I met one afternoon. He continues his work as a lawyer in White Plains, NY. Harry said he and Dick Wolf, another lawyer, had made plans to go the Columbia game last fall. Seems as though Dick has a greater love than Dartmouth football. He canceled out so as to be able to attend a rehearsal of a play in which he was appearing. Harry has no plans for retirement just now but did admire the many of our classmates who have been able to do so.

Charlie Pierce checked in from Florida where he continues to head up the Florida State Association of Hospitals. While he noted that he hoped his own retirement was still five or six years away, he did raise some interesting questions for those who have retired. As we look to our 40th Reunion, he asked if there might be some group discussions led by our classmates who have retired that would be of help to those of us who have not. Topics might range from, "What are some of the plans and actions they took which were valuable and what did they wish they had done that they had not done?" "Do those who have continued parttime work or consulting enjoy it?" "What happens to their interactions and relationships with their spouses?"

Meanwhile, an epistle came from our class president, Skip Louis, with a plea for someone to take up the work of project chairman. "This person will responsible for recommending, helping to develop support for, and carrying out projects beneficial to the College which the class approves." Any takers?

If you are out in Las Vegas, look up Fred Pitzner. He just moved from Greenwich, Conn., following his heart attack and subsequent heart-bypass surgery. He will use Las Vegas as a place to sell software projects and consulting services in financial management. He thought that Las Vegas would be the ideal place to spend the last third of his life.

Did you catch the class of 1930 notes in the January issue? Seems our own PeterOlsen had spotted a folded green bundle in an antique shop in Gloucester, Mass. Quite correctly, he surmised that it had to be a Dartmouth class banner. Unfolding it, he discovered a six-foot-by-three-foot Dartmouth 1930 banner. The banner is now in the hands of the class of '30 secretary, Robert Marr, ready to be unfurled on every possible occasion.
