In September 1997 Newsweek magazine planned to rename our generation "Generation Global"—and .display Nancy Coffee '94 as our proud spokeswoman: Coffee was a featured biography and cover model for Newtweek's-report on "Generation Global: Young-Americans Take On the World." Coffee, who recently left Leo Burnett Advertising for a position on the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, has since been traveling through Asia and Africa and is considering a permanent move overseas. As she proves yon can call as "Generation Global," call us "Generation Dolt, Be It, Live It" (as the article states), just don't call us "slackers" anymore.

So our generation stood on the brink of reformation, about to be welcomed by the mainstream media into fit society as a group that does have a plan, a clue, an agenda even. But on August 31, 1997, when the Newsweek issue was scheduled to hit the presses, the death of Princess Diana bumped Coffee from the cover of the Amerjean version of the magazine (presses running the international version didn't get the message in time). With so many "Gen-Globals" roaming 'round the girdled earth, V- man>' alumni did see cover girl Coffee. For American readers, though, the issue never appeared.
