Diana Headrick did a wonderful job of making me feel old by reminding me that we are I now interviewing candidates for Dartmouth who were born the year we started as freshmen! Sarah Covert received tenure at the University of Georgia in Athens and is now an associate professor of forestry biotechnology. Jon and Jennifer Paul have relocated to Weston, Mass. Jon works for real-estate development firm Westbrook Partners in Boston. Diarmuid O'Connell still resides in San Francisco, but has taken another six-month sabbatical from Andersen Consulting to "find himself." He headed off to Tibet again, with plans to partially scale Mt. Everest. Ever the entrepreneur, Diarmuid has convinced The North Face to underwrite his latest boondoggle. He's agreed to form a project team and put in place photographic equipment that will monitor the peak of Mt. Ever est 24x7 for the company. You guessed it—it will be viewable from its website. Diamruid will then return to head up its sportswear design group, with a charter to develop his own line of "socially conscious" clothing for the company. Bob Rech has finally left Viragen as business development manager, after three years of destroying shareholder value for such noteable former shareholders as C. Douglas Mitotan,Craig Saltzgaber, Matt Burke and GregLesko (who also welcomed a lovely new daughter named Judith in the fall). Bob now works as product development manager for Ferghanaus Inc., manufacturer of competitor products to Ty Inc.'s Beanie Babies. You might have seen Snappy the Turtle, The Baron and The Pachyderm in your Christmas shopping travels. Rumor has it that Mark Lamarre rides around Boston all day in his investment banking (Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette)-sponsored limousine, looking for high-tech companies to advise. Lelia Mellen had a baby, her second boy, on October 26. Mary FrancesSabo, her husband Josh and son Adam welcomed baby Maria on October 2. Chad Rosenberger surfaced with news that he completed his doctorate in history and sociology at Boston University, and is now teaching at BU and working as an assistant to the university's president. He's feeling pretty restless, however, and hopes to visit Russia—possibly Chechnya as wellover the summer. Chad sees the usual suspects in Boston such as Bruce Chafee, Russ Aney and Greg Fishbein. D. Valentine, who's living in Hong Kong while working for 3Com, just returned from trekking the mountains of Nepal, all smelly, tanned, fit, and sporting a goatee, according to Jessy Berg.Jeff House reports that Mike Sayette "seems to be doing wellattending a number of overseas conferences in places like Germany." Jeff stopped through the old LSAhaunting ground in Blois, France, and actually arrived during the middle of some cool outdoor music festival. Jeff added that he's enjoying life in his hometown of Kansas City. He, wife Jody and twin daughters Ashley and Sydney moved there from Chicago in the summer of '98. Sarah Sherwood and Chris Mulligan '85 report that, "all's well and life is great. We just had a christening for Amelia Mills Mulligan, who is now 10 months old. She joins sister Leila Day and brother Declan Mariner in rounding out the burgeoning Mulligan clan." Erik Roskes is working hard to improve the mental health care of the incarcerated in Maryland. He was recently named a winner of the American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education (APIRE) award for "future leaders in public policy" for this year. His son Jeffrey is in the first grade and daughter Elana is in nursery school.
