"Whether you get a paper cut in the jungles of Manhattan, or a scrape while scaling the summit of K2, we hope

you'll use these band-aids and think of Dartmouth!" reads a thank-you note you may have received recently from the Alumni Fund.

A humorous mailing from the College—what's the catch? No catch, says Chris Boffoli, assistant director of the fund. "There's an impression that much of what we send out is impersonal, and that we only get in touch when we want money. So we did this special mailing to the youngest classes, the most recent alums, thanking individual donors after the fact. It wasn't a solicitation piece, but more in the tradition of the thank-you decals we've sent out."

With its clear plastic pack revealing five adhesive bandages emblazoned with Dartmouth Hall, it wasn't the sort of mailing you could toss out.
