"Ann Koppel announces that she is the proud new mom of Edward Hamilton, who was born this past July. "He was 9 pounds, 12 ounces (enormous) and 22 inches long (very tall). I assume he will take after his father, who played basketball in college!" Ann is currently on maternity leave from her job as an attorney at the New York City office of Winston & Strawn. Her husband, Mark, is the treasurer of Briarcliff Manor, New York. "Everyone is doing well, trying to get as much sleep as we can."
An anonymous informant tells me that Darin Hughes "is now officially an Ironman." He completed the August race in British Columbia in about 15.5 hours. The race apparently consists of a 2.5-mile swim, a 109-mile bike ride and a 26-mile run—all back to back. Wow. On a completely unrelated note, Tom Boldt writes that he is still in LA., "enjoying the weather or lack there of as some might argue. Finally got myself a ragtop to enjoy it all the more. Contemplating grad schools."
Julia (Caputo) Stift is also in L.A. these days. She moved out there after graduating from the University of Michigan Law School in 1997 to take a position as a tax associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. "Shortly after moving here I met my husband, Todd Stift," writes Julia. "We were married in Michigan this past June. Christina McGinnes was one of my terrific bridesmaids." Shortly after Julias wedding, Christina left Boston behind and moved to London. Julia also writes about Brendan Henry, who recentyy moved to Atlanta to begin working as a bankruptcy attorney with the firm of Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs. She also writes that Laura Schram recently graduated from the masters of education program at Harvard. Thanks for your news,Julia, and congratulations!
The lovely Jennifer (Carroll) Zurcher was married this August to Mark Zurcher up in Hanover. Many Dartmouth folks were in attendance, including Cynde Bierman, Kathy Fidler, Tracey (Revellino) and Chris (Zeke'93) Greenwald, Andrea (Fiorentino) Liebross, Sue McCartin, Veronica (Doherty) Paricio, Neil Smith, myself and bridesmaids Erin Hoey and Aviva (Bender) Siegel '95. After a beautiful ceremony at Aquinas House and a quick photo on the steps of Theta, the entire crew headed to the Quechee Inn in Vermont for dinner and dancing—an unforgettable evening for all! Jenn and Mark now live in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Jenn works as a speech pathologist and Mark is a corporate account executive for Sky Tel.
Ginny Hague writes that "after five long years working in Germany in options trading (who would have thought?), the aftermath finally struck. I needed sun and water and relaxation, and I needed to start living a more exciting life. So I quit my job, found a position as first mate on a private yacht for the summer (sailed from the Canary Islands to the Azores and bounced around the islands for a few months) and signed up for business school in sunny Spain." Now she is back in Barcelona for her second year at lESE after a summer of consulting in Europe for BCG and a month of holidays back in Virginia. While she was in Virginia, she ran into Dave Zug, who is a second year at Darden. "I'm looking forward to another year of beaches, art exhibits, wild nightlife, good seafood and skiing in addition to learning a bit more about life in the business world." Now that sounds like a program. If you want to learn more about IESE, or just want to be Ginny's best friend in Barcelona, you can email her at ginnyhague@netscape.net. Thanks for writing, Ginny! Out of room again, and the news keeps coming in! Please keep writing! Take care.
