Did you know we can count among our classmates one of Bostons Most Wanted Singles? Yep, it's Scott Magrath, who was listed as one of Beantown's hottest bachelors in a special section of June's Boston Magazine. The city publication writes, "Magrath has the bark of a puppy in the body of a rotweiller,' say friends, and his dashing good looks' and 'irreproachable character' make him a leader of the pack." Scott, you can thank your buddy Rob Malin for bringing this accomplishment of yours to my attention.

In April T.J. Raney married Ziva Starr, who is one of my childhood friends! In fact, the pair met at my wedding two years ago, and T.J. wooed Ziva from New York City to Little Rock, Arkansas, within months. (She must REALLY love him.) Zivas father, Rabbi Arthur Starr, married them in a heartfelt ceremony in our hometown of Manchester, New Hampshire. Carol Bertucci Spindler, Shari Carver Belanger, Kristin Ward Eck and Erik Resurreccion were on hand to witness their vows.

No column would be complete without baby news: Michael Yu and his wife, Cynthia, welcomed Alexander Michael into the world on May 15. And Al Tomaselli and his wife, Jeanine, are new parents to baby Joy. Al is now in West Palm Beach and a partner in an ob/gyn practice. That last bit of news comes from lan Davis, who wrote me a fabulously long e-mail about the fascinating work he's been doing of late. Here's an exceipt:

"First, after fleeing academia in '96 (I taught computer science at Carnegie Mellon just after receiving my Ph.D. in robotics), I headed out to Los Angeles to be technical director at Activision, a large computer game developer/publisher. But finding Los Angeles to be not-my-style (i.e. smoggy, dry and too stripmallesque), I came back to the East Coast to start my own game development company, Mad Doc Software. We're located in our brand new offices in the Everett Mills in Lawrence, Massachusetts, which is a 140-year-old former textile mill. Among my partners in crime are Mark Graham (architect, artist and virtual architect) and Matthew Nordhaus '89 (programmer and game designer). We're developing a new game, Star Trek Armada 11, for Activision, and it should hit the stores in the early fall.

"In addition to making games, we're also doing some other artificial intelligence work. Mark's wife, Dr. Audrey Gadacz Graham (Smith '91, TH'92) is heading up our medical software division, and we're beginning to apply our computer vision, robotics and AI talents to some exciting medical research in the automatic differentiation of healthy cells from cancerous cells. Yes, our goals are both ambitious and diverse: a No. 1 game and a cure for cancer. Nobody ever accused us of not aiming high!

"My wife, Sandy, and I are celebrating our seventh anniversary next month, and we're living in North Andover, Massachusetts. Mark, Audrey and their daughter Emma Grace live not two miles from here. I also recently caught up with Arthur Conner. He's living in San Francisco, and working as a computer programmer at a large financial institution. He's got some truly hip digs in Pacific Heights, and has been running marathons for fun."

Finally, from our reunion chairs Carrie Heinonen, Karin Markey Jonas and Katy Jozus Mooney: "Mark your calendars and book your tickets to Hanover for the big show: The class of 1991 10th reunion: June 14-16, 2002...and if you're brave enough to man the tap for a stint, we want and need your help! Let us know if you'd like to be a part of the reunion team. Visit our class Web site at www.alum.dartmouth.org/ classes/91/ for the latest—and while you're there, take a moment to update your e-mail address so that we can spam the heck out of you for the coming year. See you in 2002!"
