The following words were written 50 years ago by class secretary Ed Boyle in the Class Notes column of the October 1953 issue of the DAM: "Well, here is installment oneofthe '53 story. The calendar reads September 1, but it seems only a few weeks ago we were attired in gown and mortarboard—let's hope that those memorable three days last June will always remain as fresh in our memories....Through these lines, your ties with class and the College can be kept alive." So the written saga of the class of 1953 commenced. Much has been transcribed in our wonderful class newsletter, our Class Notes and now on our Web page, as much has-been accomplished. The story is yet unfolding and will enthusiastically be continued in the years to come.

Our golden 50th only weeks away! It's only a matter of weeks before we gather for our gala golden 50th. Although more than 270 have already signed up, we still have room if you have not responded. Most of those attending will be here for the Thursday lobster feed, and there are still hotel rooms available for Thursday night.

Reunion Fees: You have received youi payment envelopes and your earliest payment will help us plan a glorious golden reunion. All payments received by March 31 will receive a copy of Dr. Vaillant's book Aging Well six weeks before reunion.

Dorm Rooms: The College has sen: out the dorm room applications for Friday and Saturday, and those should be sent in at once.

Activities: If you would like to play golf, tennis or go hiking on Thursday, please let us know in order to arrange a place for you. There is a space on your payment envelope regarding your planned activities.

Special Requirements: If you have any questions or dietary or physical special needs, let us know and we can accommodate you. Call AI Collins at (860) 561-0667 or Bill Chamberlin at (603) 863- 0795 or e-mail at fifththreeout@aol.com

Trapp Family Lodge: More than 100 of you are planning to be at the post-reunion gathering at Trapp Family Lodge and there is room for more. You should make these reservations on your own by calling (800) 826-7000. Speak to Dawn and identify yourself as a member of the class of '53.

A Plea: If you have not yet decided to attend, please do so now. If not, you will not only miss a one-time experience of a lifetime, but your absence will deprive the rest of us of a great chance to re-connect with you. Don't forget, there are no strangers in the class of '53! This will be the greatest collection of friends in the history of our College. Be part of it. Make it happen. Be there!

And with that sincere exhortation to come together for our golden 50th by chairman Allen Collins, I will add my thanks in advance to Allen and his reunion committee for all their efforts in preparation for this great gathering.

See you at the reunion!
