He also wrote: "In January of this year I arranged to begin working three days a week, so that I could spend more time with my growing family. It was new ground for everyone involved. My employer had to make administrative and cultural adjustments, since I am the first part-timer there. I had to agree to move out of my management role and more or less off any kind of career track. At home, I had to climb the housework and childcare learning curves, while radically reducing my expectations of what I could actually get done while caring for my four young children. And Suzie patiently waited while my contributions as co-homemaker transformed from an initial hindrance to being a real help. And now, as we both feel much more settled into this way of living, we are finding more time and energy to pursue other interests. Suzies now working professionally on the odd day (she's an art therapist), and I have begun work on establishing a rural organic food co-operative."
