Dear classmates: Thanks for the news! I could always use more, but I know you have come to appreciate my poetry. Next time, a sonnet.

I've two very class-related posts, one is from Jessica Slosberg Benjamin about our class project. I'll let her explain:

"Our class project is called Dartmouth Partners in Community Service (DPCS). The program was initially founded by the class of '59 in 1995. Since that time four other classes have joined in ('67, '79, '90 and, most recently, '87) to provide funding and alumni mentoring support to undergraduate interns working in community service and/or not-for-profit off-term jobs. How can you get involved? There are opportunities to mentor a Dartmouth student or bring your local community service organization to the attention of the program. This summer Pam Haering will be mentoring an '06 intern in Los Angeles who is working in the Garment Workers Center. If you are interested in mentoring, please contact the DPCS coordinator at corrie.b.margaron@dartmouth. edu. This fall the first DPCS '87 fundraiser will be held in New York City at the home of Emerson Bruns on Thursday, September 18, from 6:30 to 8:30. The money contributed to DPCS is used to sponsor Dartmouth interns working in not-for-profit community based organizations. If you'd like to learn more about DPCS or how to get involved, please contact Ricki Stern, '87 class advisory board member for DPCS, at bigears@mindspring.com."

The other is from Nancy Lyness, about the 87th day of the year celebration in N.Y.C. She writes: "I'm just writing in with some news of the 87th day of the year gathering in New York City last month. It was absolutely terrific, and I'm hoping it will become an annual tradition! We were all genuinely happy to reunite with our fellow classmates, and to catch up on the events of one another's lives over the last 15-plus years.

"Greg Kroitzsch, who planned the event, was there with his wife Geeta Anand '89. They live and work in Manhattan. Greg does something in insurance, while Geeta is a reporter for The WallStreet Journal. They have two beautiful little girls. In fact, photos of everyone's children were flying across the tables all evening (including photos of my own two daughters, Katie, 6, and Jenny, 2). George Bingham even brought an entire familyal bum!He has two young children as well, and lives on the Upper West Side. The last time I had seen George was in Tiffany's in 1992.

"Drew Desky was also there. I hadn't seen him in years, even though, as we quickly discovered, the office building where he works in lower Manhattan is right across the street from mine. Evan Azriliant was also there, with his wife, Debbie, who is due in May with their first child. Evan is a tax lawyer with some business ventures on the side. In fact, he has just opened up a restaurant in Manhattan called Oceans 21. Check it out at 21 West 9th St. Kim Jacobs, Alex Rossides, Herman Mazard, Ted Hampton and wife Maurice Holmes, Emil Chynn, Keith Boykin and Chris Marquardt were also at the reunion. Chris works for a hedge fund, Emil is an eye surgeon and Kim sells advertising space.

"Kim remains very friendly with Julie Grossberg, who was home sick with the flu. I was glad to hear that Julie is alive and well, since I had most recently seen her as a corpse on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Kim told me that Julie got married last year, and that she arranged the fix-up."

I'll be in N.Y.C. by the time this comes out. I'll have the same e-mail address for awhile, but it might be better to hold off sending Dartmouth-related materials by mail.
