Okay, everyone, I never thought I would have to say this.. .but I need more news! Please—in haiku or sonnet form, Pig Latin, written on Papyrus, in Morse code—whatever.

Now from our correspondents. This comes from Susan Conroy: "I am happy to report that I will have a book published in the springtime. The anticipated release date is March of 2003.1 re- ceived an 'authors contract,' so it's official! Craig Denekas (married to Betsy Pelikan) helped me to review the contract before entering into negotiations with the publisher. The book is about my experiences with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, India. It will most likely be titled Mother Teresa's Lessonsof Love and Secrets of Sanctity. As you might recall, I made my first journey to India between my junior and senior years at Dartmouth. In the very first chapter of the book, I wrote about how the dream of working with Mother Teresa began: 'I was a student at Dartmouth College. That, in and of itself, is very significant, for the atmosphere at Dartmouth is like in a fairy tale, conducive to dreaming and to believing that anything is possible.' The book will be filled with photographs—including a nice one of Dartmouth Hall! In recent years I have also been translating books from French into English and having them published here in the United States. Perhaps the most notable of these is a book that was considered a French 'masterpiece' and was written as a doctoral thesis. I titled it The Power of Confidence. Translating that book was the greatest professional challenge of mylife. At Dartmouth I was an economics major! Not an English or French major. So these translating and writing adventures have been a big surprise to me! I will let you know when the Mother Teresa book is available. It will even include a photograph of some of our Dartmouth classmates on graduation day in 1987, and an excerpt of a letter from Mother Teresa herself with her personal wishes for our graduating class!"

From Stephanie (Taylor) Song: "I married Bill Song, M.D., on August 24 in Connecticut near my parents' house. Some of our classmates may remember him from reunions last year. He is an intemist who does house calls for homebound seniors in New Jersey. Dartmouth types in attendance were my sister and maid of honor, Diana Taylor '77 (yup, that's right—second class of women), Drew Desky (did a Little Prince reading for us), Adam Rabiner '88 Joann Halpern '88, Rob Levine '86, Kathy Gussman '85 and Sue McCormack '89. We went to Ireland, Crete and Santorini for our honeymoon. If anyone's looking for a really romantic spot, go to Santorini—the views are spectacular!"

An oldie but a goodie: Michael Levine and his wife, Melissa, announce the birth of their second son, Noah Gabriel, bom on January 8,2002, nearly 9 pounds. His older son, who is 6, just started kindergarten. Michael is busy practicing cardiology in New Milford, Connecticut.

My own news: My popular culture reader TheWorldisa Text was recently published by PrenticeHall. If any of you English teacher types want a copy, let me know.
