ACHIEVEMENTS AND HONORS

Walt Peterson '47, who recently retired as president of Franklin Pierce College, was honored for 25 years of service when the school renamed its administration building after him.

Jane Garfinkei "74, a lawyer with the business law firm Thompson Hine LLP in Cincinnati, was recently selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers inAmerica 2005-2006.

Joseph Lindner Jr. '51, a board member of the independent Asheville (North Carolina) School, is the 2005 recipient of the Seymour Preston Award, given by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education for commitment and leadership.

Elizabeth. Ariedge 79 has; earned two awards as producer, director and writer of the PBS documentary TheForgetting: A Portrait ofAlzheimer's: an Emmy for Outstanding Nonfiction Special and the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry's 2005 Images of Aging Communications Award.

Dr. Martin Weiss '60, DMS'61, recently retired chair of the neurological surgery department of the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine, earned the 2005 Cushing Medal from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons for leadership and dedication to the field.

Robert Bell '67, English professor and founder of the mentoring program Project for Effective Teaching at Williams College, was named Out standing Baccalaureate College Professor by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

Bye-Mass Taal '76 has been appointed to the Cabinet of Gambia as Secretary of State for Fisheries, Natural Resources and the Environment.
