Even though we are down to a small band of brothers, the mini-reunion went as well as could be expected. Present: President Stan Berenson and son Bill, Dr. C. Everett Koop, Charlie and Ellen Collis, Harold and Marlene Putnam, Marge and Brewer Doran, Jud and Marge Smith, Mary Fenn and daughter, Jane Handrahan and Corkie Ray. Plus Dr. Hank Doremus, whom we elected vice president.

President Jim and Susan Wright paid us a nice visit on Friday evening, and Andrew Harvard, dean of outdoor activities, brought us up to date on the activities that thrilled our boyhoods. He is preparing the centennial anniversary of the Dartmouth Outing Club in 2009.

Sue Young in 103 Blount is handling our class finances. She reported that we have more than $3,000 in the till, with all reunion bills paid, and that no change is needed in class dues.

Sentiment favored continuing the reunions as long as any of us can get there. Your secretary is looking into a possible joint dinner with the class of 1940 next time.

For the first time we hired a van for a tour of the campus, and we had a good look at the vast building program that is in progress—much of it to provide more and better dorm rooms.

The market value of our class scholarship fund is now $650,012. Two of our current scholars, Stephen Macekura '06 and Theresa Zhou 07, reported on their progress.

The saddest note was the conspicuous absence of Will and Natale Brown. Will died just a month before our date in Hanover (see obituary section). A mighty oak has fallen, leaving an empty space against the sky.
