Dr. C. Everett Koop, our "Chick," is still the recipient of national honors. The latest is the Distinguished Service Award of the Pennsylvania Medical Society for "a lifetime of achievement." Amen—say we all.

Chick has accomplished so much in his "old age" that most of us have forgotten his professional beginning. He was surgeon-inchief of the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia from 1948 to 1981. And he was professor of pediatric medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from 1959 to 1971. He was editorin-chief of the Journal of Pediatric Surgery from 1964-1976. Chick, we are all honored to have known ye.

Treasurer Bill Heroy reports that we are solvent. We have 215 dues-paying members, including widows. Only a dozen members have dropped from the list in the laSt year. He says it's OK to continue buying the memorial books for the library and sending the Alumni Magazine to all interested parties.

Our class scholarship fund was begun at our 25th Reunion, and has grown to more than $400,000. Our present Class of 1937 Scholars are Peter L. Coffin '99 and Karthik Kalyanaraman '01. Helena Park '01 is our Francis T. Fenn Jr. Scholar. Peter is winding up his work in engineering and economics, and plans to attend business school. Sent a nice letter of thanks to our late RussStearns, a role model for Peter.
