During Class Officers Weekend our class was presented with a "Special Recognition Citation" by the College for our success in organizing various class 50th birthday parties in March (on the 77th day of this year). The citation reads: "In pursuit of excellence, Dartmouth College recognizes with deep appreciation the extraordinary achievements of The Class of 1977 2005 Special Recognition." Congrats to all and special thanks to mini-reunion chair Leslie Bradford, John Storella and Peter Mills for pulling the major events together. For those interested in organizing smaller local celebrations, however informal, it's not too late and the class will still fund such an event for up to $50 per person.
Peter F. Kenworthy just published Bank Job:The Story of C.D. Waggoner. In 1929 C.D. Waggoner, a small, mild-mannered bank president from the mountain town of Telluride, Colorado, was prosecuted in federal court for the theft of half a million dollars from six of New York's most prominent banks. Peters book is intriguing; a very good read. You have to buy it!
Add Jeff Lyon to the list of parents of soon-to-be Dartmouth 2010s. Jeffs son Jason, just got his early admittance back in December. According to Jeff, his son is a pretty good distance runner and hopes to be doing cross-country and track at Dartmouth. Jeff's oldest daughter, Kate, graduated in June as an '05.
This summer Mark Fidler had his seventh children's novel published: Two-Faced Forward. Last year another one of his books, The Call ofSagarmatha, won first place in the Arizona Book Awards (children's literature). The sponsoring organization, the Arizona Authors Association, can be found at www.azauthors.com. Information on all of Mark's books is at www.markfidler.com.
I plan to attend Club Officers Weekend in Hanover during Winter Carnival Weekend. Continue to send in news on yourself and classmates.
