Richard J. Zakin is still in New York City and has a lot of news to report since he last checked in several years ago. Per Richard: "After 20 years of practicing law, including more than eight years as a partner with the New York offices of Bryan Cave and Dorsey & Whitney, followed by three years heading up the sales division at another New York legal temp entity, in January 2005 I was recruited to become the head of the revamped legal temporary staffing division of the Solomon-Page Group, one of the largest executive search firms in New York. We are up and running, building a team for satisfying temporary legal staffing needs in cities throughout the United States. In just four months we have expanded our network to begin the process of developing business in Denver, Houston, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles in addition to New York, with more cities on the horizon. On the personal front, my two wonderful children Charlie and Lillie are just completing sixth grade and third grade at the Trinity School in Manhattan. And, after being divorced in 2001, 1 was lucky enough to meet, in 2002, my now-fiancee, Kathy Braddock, a lifelong Manhattanite and Vassar grad who runs a residential real estate consulting business. I just attended my 25th reunion from Columbia Law School and am looking forward to our 30th college reunion right around the corner." We can't wait to see Richard either.
I had the good fortune of talking to Jim Washington at a cookout and graduation celebration Memorial Day weekend. Jim is still with the FAA in Washington, D.C. He still travels. He and I reminisced about our Language Study Abroad (LSA) term in Granada, Spain, and all the muscatel we drank in our younger days, when we had a lot more hair! Caldwell Gaffney II invited us to the cookout. Caldwell's oldest son just graduated from Dickinson College.
I had the opportunity to fly down to Lake Charles, Louisiana, the next day and had the opportunity to visit with Kerry Charles and Harold Nixon. Harold and Kerry are both in the oil and gas industry, and have been for the past 20 years. Kerry and Harold matriculated to Dartmouth from the same high school in Lake Charles. Harolds oldest daughter, India, just graduated from LSU; he is a very proud dad. Harold and his wife, Cheryl, have two young sons, 13 and 12 years old, and they are very active. Kerry and his lovely wife, Sheila, are doing well and were very good hosts to Terry Wilbanks '78 and myself. The food prepared by Kerry and Cheryl was delicious!
Have a great fall.
