Okay, I admit it. I was a Torino Olympic Games junkie! Glued for those 17 days in February to the latest and greatest thrills of victory and agonies of defeat! Hard not to get hooked with all of the hype around the much anticipated showdowns from the alpine mountain events, to the short track skating, to the bobsledding, boarder cross racing and ice skating competitions. And then there was the sheer enjoyment of taking in the new commercial ads, some featuring the hoped-for medal contenders, as well as the Olympic twist added to ads with just those ordinary folk. (Can I tell you how many times I roared when viewing the Allstate Insurance commercial? You know, the one with the couple who take to the local outdoor ice rink to "do the hustle" only to total their car when the husband backs into the shed, send- ing a cascade of snow and ice descending upon the roof of their car! Laugh out loud funny!) And do you suppose the inventor of skeleton is a relative of the inventor of our very own Winter Carnival keg jumping? Does anyone still do that in Hanover? Either way, hurtling oneself down a frozen ice track at breakneck speeds, teetering upon the equivalent of a metal lunch tray looked about as ingenious to me as some of the more famous (or, rather, infamous) sporting endeavors during Carnival weekend. All in the name of "snort."

These past winter games were no exception to the Dartmouth tradition of having been represented by athletes and coaches at every Olympic Winter Games since 1924. Isn't that just amazing! And who can forget our very own class representatives at the Winter Games in Sarajevo in 1984—biathlete Glenn Eberle and alpine skier Tiger Shaw. I bet what would make them even more memorable for many of you would be to attend our 20th reunion in Hanover, June 16-18, so you can catch up in person. I should admit, however, that I cannot guarantee Glenn and Tiger will be attending. In fact, I have absolutely no news on Glenn's current whereabouts whatsoever (let s hope he is not hunting with VP Cheney!). However, I do know from a reliable source (our very own Jennifer Archibald Williams) that Tiger resides with his family in Norwich, Vermont (as does Jenny), so odds are pretty good he will make his way across the river and make an appearance in Hanover—and Jenny will be there too!

Our reunion committee has just solicited the help of Brian Goldner, recently appointed chief operating officer for toy giant Hasbro Inc. Given that the warmer June weather will prohibit us from rolling out the kegs in front of Pso U, Brian has been asked to come up with equivalent amusements for us on the Hanover Plain. Having spent most of his career in the toy industry, most recently with Bandai America prior to joining Hasbro in 2000, he promises not to disappoint.

You know, that chief" title has quite a nice ring to it. Seems to be an impressive trend among several of our classmates, including Bill Senhauser, recently appointed chief compliance officer at Fannie Mae (wonder what he'll think of the new dorm buildings populating the Hanover Plain, in comparison to the nationwide housing trends he sees in his new role?). And then there's our very own, John MacManus—chief nominating officer. Anyone with class officer nominations should e-mail them to John. Positions will be filled at reunion so please join us in Hanover!

Come to reunion June 16-18!

All the best to all of you!
