Following our 45th reunion David Smith and wife Elizabeth motored through Vermont with a painterly eye for Norman Rockwell villages and Hopperesque houses—"the best of which we found in Brandon, Vermont"—and "made the obligatory pilgrimage to Robert Frosts grave" in Bennington, Vermont. David posted a compelling chronicle of the complete journey on our class discussion listserv. If you have not yet subscribed, you don't know what you're missing. Contact Dan Tompkins (pericles@temple.edu), ask him to add your name and come along for the ride. You can't beat the price!

More travel bargains: Tripmeister Tom Komarek writes, "Our '62 Greek road trip will depart May 19, 2008. We'll travel to Athens, Delphi and Meteora before setting sail to the Greek Islands on our own 48-passenger small ship." If you are interested, please contact Tom at tckomarek@ aol.com for more details and to add your name to the waiting list. Although the trip is fully booked, space may become available between now and next May.

The peripatetic Eric Matthies regrets he missed reunion but has been roaming the girdled earth nevertheless. He writes, "Judy and I have been completely retired for just over 10 years now so we are not lawyering at all, although we travel rather a lot. In the last 12 months, for example we did five semi-major trips: Burma and Thailand; two Atlantic crossings on Regent Voyager (Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Cross-Atlantic); then Ft. Lauderdale, Madeira, Canary Islands, Morocco, Spain; and another to Mexico. In September we are sailing from Alaska to Russia and Japan." Marsh "Spider" Potterton has a somewhat more focused approach to travel. "When the class goes to Jersey City," he writes, "I'll be there." Tripmeister, please take note.

On the music front, word comes from Allen Houser in Silver Spring, Maryland. 'After a hiatus of 34 years and separate lives, Karen Roewade, the sister of my drummer and roommate for two years off campus [the late Paul Roewade], and I got married. We will celebrate our 10th anniversary this year."

Allen reports that his old Washington, D.C., jazz club morphed into condos and a sub shop. Nevertheless, he "got the sextet back together about seven years ago" and has done sundry gigs at a variety of different venues in D.C. and Baltimore The group gets together, as well, for biweekly jam sessions at Allen's condo in Silver Spring. Those who attended our 50th birthday reunion in Washington, D.C., in May 1990 remember swinging to Allen's music at the class cocktail reception. I was delighted to discover his CDs available for digital download at Apple's iTunes Music Store.

Another gift idea for the holiday season comes from Jon Gershovitz, who for many years has lived in Tel Aviv, Israel, and has just recently published a children's story called Maximum:AStory About a Very Short Dog (see www.lulu.com). Jon writes, "Telling stories and illustrating them were not obvious facets of who I was 45 years ago; to me or to anyone else."
