Class of 1952's 55th reunion in June was a record-breaking success. With the presence of 112 classmates and 206 persons in total (including wives, significant others and widows), new College standards were set for attendance at a 55th reunion. Unquantifiable but equally pace-setting were the displays of warm fellowship and age-defying exuberance shown throughout the three days, induced in part by the setting, but in larger measure by the fine program put together by reunion chairman Frank Logan, vice chairman Bob Binswanger, treasurer Steve Parkhurst and their committee, with special kudos to John North and Alden Fiertz, who handled the food and beverage arrangements. The College itself added academic breadth and depth to the occasion by providing an Alumni College that gave alumni access in small groups to a wide range of faculty members on a broad range of subjects. Space limitations require the deferral of the details of the events themselves to future columns, but there is no doubt that everyone left Hanover with a renewed appreciation of our great good fortune in having been brought into the Dartmouth family almost 60 years ago.

Our most prideful record by far is our reunion gift to the College fund. In excess of $850,000 and still open as of this writing, it is far more than double any previous 55th-year gift. Accolades to head agents Jim Churchill, Steve mandel and Ev Parker and their coworkers for this remarkable achievement, as well as thanks to the contributing classmates for their unparalleled generosity. It is a record that should stand for a longtime.

In my official capacity as secretary, I report that the class has elected for five-year terms, Dorn McGrath, president; John McCrillis, vice president; Bill Breed, treasurer; and the undersigned, secretary. They succeed, respectively, Pete McSpadden, Lou Zehner, Roger Pierce and Dick Watt. In his inaugural remarks President McGrath duly thanked our predecessors for their service to the class. Unofficially, I would add that Dorn's expressions of appreciation and gratitude were warmly received and seconded by the assembled reunionees, as was the announcement that Bill Montgomery has agreed to stay on as newsletter editor.
