Only a few months until our 35th reunion....

Thad King is our new Alumni Council representative and his duties are centered on bringing ideas and concerns of alumni to the attention of the council and the College, and reporting back on issues of alumni interest. Thad has been assigned to the council committee on admissions and enrollment and to the council committee on honorary degrees. He can be reached at thadking@ mindspring.com, so anyone with comments or concerns should contact him.

In November the College celebrated the 35th anniversary of coeducation with a Friday through Sunday gathering of more than 370 alumnae. The class of 1973 was ably represented by Kate Stith-Cabranes, the Lafayette S. Foster Professor of Law at Yale Law School and a Dartmouth trustee emerita, who had the honor of introducing Susan DeBevoise Wright '69A, Dartmouth's first lady and honorary event chair, as a luncheon speaker, and Jan SeidlerRamirez, chief curator and director of collections for the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation, who was part of a panel on "The Creative Self." For those (such as myself) unable to make it to Hanover in November, there will be a reprise of the celebration the first weekend in May in San Francisco. Check at www.alumni.dartmouth. edu/alumnae35 or e-mail patricia.fisher@ dartmouth.edu.

In addition to being a Manhattan-based attorney specializing in corporate, computer and real estate law, Nick Chamousis is on the board of directors of DGALA in a term extending to 2009 and is a charter member of Out Professionals, the nation's largest LGBT professional organization.

Unfortunately, in early December we lost two more classmates in one week, Larry Bele and Chip Reese. Their obituaries appear later in this magazine. One cannot help but note they reflect the wide spectrum of our membership. Larry joined the class sophomore year, a rare male transfer, and maintained an extremely low profile; no information or photo of him even appears in our yearbook. In contrast, Chip was a high-profile person and became a legend in his own time, such that his death was noted in venues as prominent as The New York Times and Time. According to one article, "Many consider Chip the greatest cash-game player who ever lived, especially after his victory in the inaugural $50,000 buy-in HORSE championship in 2006 won him his third World Series of Poker bracelet and made him a part of WSOP lore forever." Our condolences go to both men's families.

Remember, even a small gift to the Alumni Fund would be appreciated by your class officers as it would increase our class participation numbers and percentage. So, send in a check and be counted.

A recent bulletin from a local realtor stated green currently is the most popular home decorating color. This should come as no surprise to any Dartmouth grad. Think green, think home, think reunion.
