This is a great job. I get to talk to a lot of old friends, which is very rewarding. I spoke to Dave Goldman, and it turns out he lives near me and Doc Beach and Jack Rubin. I found a New York Times clipping from 1936 recounting the victoiy in a best ball invitational tournament which described how Max Feinberg and I won with a 66 best ball, 6 under par. I don't believe it myself even though I was there. I called up Max, who told me that, sadly, he had leg problems that prevented him from playing the game that he had played so well and loved so much. He would love to hear from any fraternity brothers who are still around.
Bill Mathers also has problems preventing him from playing. Bob Bohem has been very helpful to Helen. Bob, how about sending me a copy of that wonderful book of poems so that I can have great quotes? Sadly, Bill L. Russell died. He is survived by wife Dorothy. A donation in his name was given to Dartmouth by Doug and Linda Strickland. Peggy, widow of E. Jonathan Harvey, who died August 2001, also passed away. After a long illness, the wife of Herb Shuttleworth died after 64 years of marriage. I spoke to Herb, who really would like to hear from his old friends, including Art Seessel, if he is still around. Call Herb at (578) 842-2842. Harold Silverman is not feeling well. You better get better for the mini, Harold.
