Hope you had a happy Chinese New Year (Year of the Rat—those born in rat years tend to be leaders, pioneers and conquerors. They are charming, passionate, charismatic, practical and hardworking) and an excellent African-American History Month. For this March/April issue best wishes for Women's History Month, Irish-American Heritage Month, St. Patricks Day, Easter, Passover and Earth Day!
I heard from Nicole Cohen. Following Dartmouth, she spent some time studying in Seoul, Korea, as she worked toward her doctorate at Columbia University in East Asian languages and cultures. Following a year teaching at Yale she is now back teaching at Columbia as a postdoc.
Recently came across a novel authored by Chris Kelly, A Push and a Shove, published by Alyson Books. Check it out and support our fellow artist/author classmates. There's a great antagonist bully, unlikely friendships, long-kept secrets, hidden motives and revenge. It has been described as "darkly disturbing and brilliantly written," and I could not agree more. Followed up with Chris, and he is living in Ft. Worth, Texas, where he is on staff at the Fort Worth StarTelegram and a writer-at-large for Texas Monthly. He is working on some other writing projects as well as finishing his next novel.
Matt Little wrote me that he got married in September in Edina, Minnesota. Scott Nudelman and Harley McAllister '94 were groomsmen. He and his new wife, Paula, spent a month in Greece for their honeymoon, bouncing from island to island, doing nothing but relaxing and partaking of seafood, bread, olives and wine before heading to the mainland, where they saw incredible archeological sites, complete with 3,000-year-old mansions, temples and forts. They make their home in Seattle, Washington, where Matt is the West Coast and Hawaii representative for the National Wildlife Federation and Paula is a fundraiser for the Wilderness Society.
After five years at New England College Phoebe Manchester has relocated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to assume the head coach position of the Chatham University hockey team. The team was 0-99-1 in the last four years, so she has her work cut out for her. She informed me that Sansea Kaphan is also in Pittsburgh. Sansea is a doctor and working at the Univer- sity of Pittsburgh Medical Center, specializing in childhood psychology.
been an absolute blast and entering the toddler phase, now ruling the roost. Kate, husband Raj and Luke were heading back East for the wedding of her sister Nell '99. At the time of this writing Nell will be married in three days, so best wishes to the bride and groom.
Speaking of news from California, I heard from Amanda (Miller) Mundell that she married a Scotsman, Johnnie Mundel. They live in Santa Monica and had a baby girl, Isla Willow, Christmas 2006. Amanda is currently working as a story analyst and script editor for the film industry.
Chris Jacobus finished his emergency medicine residency in June and is working as an ER doctor in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he lives with his wife, Laura. He also just got his pilot's license, so he is flying all over the place trying to build hours.
Received a quick update from Brad Parks that he and wife Melissa (Taylor) have a little bambino now, Avery Karl Parks. Is he sleeping through the nightyet, Brad? Bloodshot eyes are like a pledge pin for new father initiation. Welcome!
Keep on keeping on, and I look forward to hearing from you!
