Hoping your 2009 has been happy and blessed so far—spring is already upon us and summer is just around the corner.
Assistant professor of psychology at George Mason University Koraly Perez-Edgar received her Ph.D. in psychology at Harvard in 2001 and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland. On a personal note, she married Timothy Edgar '94 in 1997 and has followed him around ever since. Tim currently works for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in the civil liberties protection office. The couple has children Gabriel, 7, and Elisa, 4.
Carmen Harden and Ike Anyanwu-Ebo '94, Th'96, have been married for more than eight years and living in Royal Oak, Michigan. Their son Nnamdi just celebrated his fifth birthday and the happy couple is expecting a little girl in April.
Ike is still working at Ford Motor Co. as an engineering supervisor (buy American, they really are good cars!) and Carmen just recently went back to work in financial aid after a long stay at home to raise their son. "It's been so nice to go back to work for a short period of time, but when Amara is born I will be staying at home with her too!" That's all on the Anyanwu-Ebo family!
In news from Rhode Island Kristen (Carlone) Hurley married Mike Hurley on July 5, 2008. Dartmouth alums in attendance were Stephanie Argamaso, Christie Jackson '97 and Elijah Cocks '97.
I heard that Monica Oberkofler Gorman has a recent publication in the Berkeley Journal ofInternational Law, but I'll get more information for you in the next article.
Finally, fellow classmate Aaron Sandoski has co-authored a book you should check out: How the Wise Decide. Discover the formula used by 21 of the worlds most extraordinary leaders to make consistent and smart decisions. How do the wise decide and lead businesses and organizations to great success is the question Aaron and co-author Bryan Zeckhauser posed to themselves after landing their first jobs as managers. Despite the best training the world could offer—Harvard M.B.A.s and stints at McKinsey & Co., the elite powerhouse consulting firm—they felt unprepared when faced with the pressure to make critical decisions. So they set out on a three-year quest to discover how people with remarkable success and experience in both corporate and public life—"the wise"—went about making crucial, often make-or-break decisions.
How the Wise Decide not only imparts wisdom, but also reveals how you can use this wisdom to be on the winning side of the ledger. Check out the book from Random House.
Keep on keeping on!
