In March Judie and I had the good fortune to attend a reception for President and Mrs. Wright in West Palm Beach, Florida. Angus Russell was the only other 52 present, affable as always in deflecting the alltoo-often-uttered canards about how his role at the College fund affords him each year what appears to be an unseemly number of respites from the ardors of the Hanover winter. But there was a goodly representation of other classes, which, given Palm Beach County's status as a retirement venue, were mostly from the 1950s or earlier.

President Wrights report on the state of the College,"described afterwards by some in the audience as "inspiring," was upbeat and encouraging. The number of applicants is at an all-time high, affording the opportunity to select a student body both of high quality and great diversity. The totality of the services provided by the College to its students is under constant review with an eye on improvement and innovation. I am uncertain of President Wrights schedule for his final year in office, but if an alumni meeting with him is arranged in or near your community I would urge you to make special efforts to attend. In sum, President Wrights well-received valedictory visit with Florida alumni left the clear impression that he will be a tough act to follow.

Many of us as undergraduates were students of philosophy professor Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy. Not having been among them personally, I can offer no insight into his lasting influence upon his students, but a recent letter from Norman Fiering '56 tells me that his ideas are posthumously arousing great interest in academic circles worldwide and that a nonprofit foundation has been established to further the publication of his writings and lectures and to coordinate their study. I would be happy to put anyone wishing to learn more of the efforts or to contribute to them in touch with, as they say, the proper authorities.
